EPA Makes Another $6.5B Available to States for Water Projects

The US EPA announced last week that up to $6.5 billion will be available for water projects across the country. WIFIA, an innovating federal financing program, accelerates investment in our nation’s water infrastructure by providing long-term, low-cost supplemental loans for regionally and nationally significant projects. The agency said it would prioritize funding for economically stressed communities, lead service line replacement, PFAS contaminants, and One Water innovation projects. As the graphic demonstrates, New Jersey has applied for these funds in the past through the NJ Infrastructure Bank and is expected to apply once again. We will continue to monitor the availability of, application for, and allocation to New Jersey of this money.
