Member Spotlight: Montana Construction Getting the Lead Out

In an effort to promote cleaner, safer, and more reliable drinking water, Montana Construction recently completed a historic lead pipe removal project in Newark, NJ. Working together with the city of Newark’s Water and Sewer experts and project engineers, Montana Construction replaced 5,000 lead pipe service lines in just 9 months. Clean drinking water is one of the critical issues facing our nation’s infrastructure, and Newark has now become a model for accomplishment. The city has converted over 23,000 pipes in less than 3 years with no cost to residents. Montana Construction is proud to have been a part of this success story and credits the commitment of the city council, project managers, and residents for completing the work in such a timely manner.
