NUCA NJ's Executive Director Evan Piscitelli, joined by National's lobbyist Zack Perconti, met with several key Congressional offices late last week. The meetings centered primarily around protecting full water funding in the now twice-delayed appropriations bill. The pair met with key staff from the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Grave's office, as well as from the House Energy & Commerce Committee, chaired by Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Meetings with the New Jersey delegation included the offices of Rep. Andy Kim, Rep. Tom Kean, and Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
Piscitelli and Perconti also stressed the importance of addressing the recent trend towards earmarks in water appropriation, reducing bureaucratic hurdles for project advancement, and taking action on overdue reauthorization bills like PHMSA. Overall, the meetings were highly productive, maintaining open communication channels for NUCA NJ’s ongoing lobbying efforts.
