For the past six years in June, NUCA has held the Trench Safety Stand Down (TSSD) Week for the utility construction industry. This year’s event will occur between June 20 and 24 at hundreds of jobsites across the nation, reaching tens of thousands of workers. A Safety Stand Down presents the opportunity for employers to talk directly to employees and others about safety. These Stand Downs will focus on trench & excavation hazards and reinforce the importance of using trench protective systems and protecting workers from trenching hazards. June has been declared “Trench Safety Month” by NUCA, further highlighting its innovative educational and safety program by devoting the entire month of June to getting the message out to the public about the importance of employee safety when working underground or in/around trenches.
