Update: NUCA NJ Seeks Exemptions to Dirty Dirt Law

Originally passed by Governor Murphy, the "Dirty Dirt Law" sought to eliminate bad actors and companies who were illegally removing and dumping contaminated soil. The result, however, could cause project delays, time, and money for many of our member contractors who find themselves mired in the ambiguity of the law.
NUCA NJ has submitted a letter to the DEP, now in charge of regulations, to request clarifications and prevent unnecessary confusion amongst contractors in our industry - mainly that contractors who sub out the work and those who are already properly self-registered as dirt generators be considered exempt from obtaining this new classification. If accepted, these clarifications would make an immediate impact and protect those members who are already moving dirt to and from their construction projects in a lawful manner.
