NUCA NJ continues to collaborate with Congress to prevent the proposed $2 billion in cuts for funding state water projects. Proposed by House Republicans last year, these cuts would have catastrophic effects for our industry. Most publicly bid water projects in New Jersey rely on this annual revenue. So far, our advocacy has been successful in the Senate, where leadership continues to favor restoring funding to the previous year's level, thus averting the cuts. Funding had remained intact through a temporary continuing resolution that gave legislators more time to reach a deal. However, this stop gap measure is expiring this month. In response, the House and Senate have once again agreed to a temporary measure that will extend funding until March 8th. NUCA NJ staff will be heading down to D.C. this week to further lobbying efforts.
