Under legislation recently passed in the Assembly, all lead service lines will be inventoried and subsequently replaced within 10 years. NUCA NJ continues to be a strong supporter of this bill, S3398/A5343, as it now awaits consideration in the Senate. The benefits of completely eliminating lead pipes is as obvious as it is long overdue. Not only will residents benefit from safer drinking water if this becomes law but the utility construction industry will also see a nice run of work to fulfill the legislation's aim. Staff will continue to support the bill as it advances.
